Helping People Recover, Grow & Thrive

Healing Begins with Connection

Seeking therapy can be one of the most important decisions a person makes. Whether you’re facing a difficult transition, living with anxiety or depression, navigating family relationships, or simply looking for a place to think and grow, I hope this website gives you a sense of who I am and how I work. My approach is grounded in curiosity, respect, and the belief that meaningful change begins with genuine human connection.

Professional Experience

I graduated from Naropa University, where I later served as an adjunct faculty member for two years. I also spent eight years working in public mental health, experiences that deeply shaped my understanding of recovery and compassionate care.

Beginning in 1988, I had the privilege of helping further develop the Windhorse approach, and in 1990 I co-founded Windhorse Community Services. In 2000, I also co-founded the Windhorse Guild to provide training, employment, and educational opportunities for people in recovery.

Today, I continue my work with Windhorse Community Services and in private practice. My journey at Naropa remains the foundation from which my life’s work continues to unfold—an ongoing exploration of how confusion can be transformed into healing.

To everyone who has walked this path with me, I am grateful beyond measure.

Compassionate Individual & Family Therapy

I believe that meaningful change begins with a relationship built on trust, respect, and understanding. My goal is to provide a safe and comfortable space where we can work together to explore the challenges you’re facing and discover new possibilities for moving forward. It is a privilege to accompany people on this journey toward greater clarity, healing, and well-being.

Throughout my career, I have come to believe that healing rarely happens in isolation. We are shaped by our relationships—with family, community, and the larger systems we live within. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand those relationships, recognize new possibilities, and move toward a more satisfying way of living.

Taking the first step can be difficult. When you’re ready, I invite you to reach out.

“All of us entertain the idea of another sort of medicine…which will restore us to our lost health and wholeness. We spend our lives searching for what we have lost; and one day, perhaps, we will suddenly find it.”

Resources for Learning, Reflection & Recovery

Recovery is a journey that extends beyond the therapy office. Here you’ll find books, articles, essays, blog posts, podcasts, audio recordings, and a documentary that explore mental health, recovery, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Whether you’re seeking understanding for yourself, someone you care about, or simply a broader perspective, I hope these resources provide insight, encouragement, and hope.

Joanne Greenberg, author of I Never Promised You A Rose Garden (now a Penguin Classic), Jeffrey Fortuna and Chuck Knapp, both long-time psychotherapists and former agency directors, challenge the common belief that psychosis, schizophrenia, and other severe mental health struggles inevitably lead to lifelong decline.

Instead, they reveal a more hopeful reality: many people do heal, grow, and reclaim meaningful lives. Through moving stories, thoughtful reflections, and compassionate clinical wisdom, this book explores the power of relationship, community, dignity, and the enduring sanity that can remain present even in times of profound distress.

Most of Us Recover offers a fresh and deeply human look at extreme mental states, healing, and what recovery can truly mean. For readers seeking a more humane and realistic perspective on mental health recovery, this book offers insight, encouragement, and possibility.
